HI,
i saw somewhere that dirty lens might lead to Wii not being able to read some of the games.So if it a must to send to Nintendo for cleaning or those DVD lens cleaning Kit that we get off the shelves will do??? Scare that it will damage the lens.

I would try to clean it myself. If you have a modchip, you might have to remove it if you send it to nintendo. Also if you send it, it might take a few week before you get it back.

Thankz for the reply,mine set was modded that the reason that i cannot send to Nintendo.Thinkin of cleanin it myself but how?? Must open up the set?? What other equipment is needed and how to go about it??

you wont be able to use those typical DVD lens cleaners you get at wal mart where its a CD with a brush on it that you spray a liquid on because they require you to leave the DVD running for a long period of time but the Wii will stop spinning the disk if it is not readable meaning the cleaner will drip the liquid and not clean it up so just keep that in mind.

And if you don't know anything about cleaning lasers i don't suggest you opening the Wii and cleaning the laser manually. I also don't suggest you sent it to Nintendo though.
