DVD+R's will not play

I just had to update my BIOS and now when I try to burn a DVD it will not play. I have tried DVD shrink, DVD Decrypter to rip. These have worked fine atleast as far as I know. When I try to burn, with either copytodvd or nero it seems to go through fine but it just will not play. I use memorex dvd+r media. I have had no luck playing them on wither xbox or my new JVC dvd+r player. WHile it burns with nero it states there is a unknown burn phase but seems to have no effect on burning (DVD still does not play however). After the burn is 100% complete a pop up menu comes up also stating unknown burn phase. After the burn I can see on the disc that information was burned on the disc too. I have a Phillips DVD+RW SDVD6004 recorder if that helps. Thanks in advance for any help.
