I sent my D2C Wii to get modded by a guy with a D2Ckey and he accidentally updated the Wiifirmware with an out-of-region game and semi-bricked it (the Wii is originally NTSC). Everything else is perfect just that the settings cant be accessed. Unfortunately, I don't know which region nor what firmware the Wii was updated to.
I am pretty sure though that the firmware is 3.2 though, since the only way you can semi-brick is via an out of region game disc and the highest firmware on a disc is 3.2 in Mario Kart. He probably updated with Mario Kart PAL (I think) and semi-bricked the Wii.
I was able to install the homebrew channel, but cant change any region information with AnyRegionChanger since it cant detect the semi-bricked settings. However, I think that if I had the setting.txt file for a native PAL Wii, I could use it to change the Wii to a PAL Wii with Setting-Replace (homebrew) and unbrick it, then use AnyRegionChanger to change it into an NTSC Wii.
But I need your help. Basically, can someone with a PAL Wii please run Setting-Replace on their Wii and post the setting.txt text here or send it to me?? Then I can try out my theory and hopefully unbrick the Wii. Thanks!
Edit: I have also tried the Wii Unbrick Disc, but that disc only takes you to 3.2. And since I suspect that the Wii is right now at 3.2 PAL, i dont think it bricks you out of your region.
dude......this doesnt work for me. The Wii doesn't read the disc. Its actualy a pretty common problem among users. Ive actually tried this before, using a repadded version of this (that DOES work), but then the Wii update fails at the end.
I was able to fix it...used Animal Crossing NTSC which has the newer 3.3 firmware on disc to unbrick the Wii. Everything is good now. Thanks for your help.
