Here's an idea:

Not a Linux OS onboard a Gamecube. But I wander if anyone's thinking about coding a Linux type operating system that is basically a Gamecube emulator. That way the systems processes can be directly used as a Gamecube. I wander if this is possible and if it would be much faster than the current emulators.
