In another historical move by President Raul Castro, the ban on personal computers has been lifted, even though an internet-access ban still stands. The computers run around $800 (£400) in a place where average wages are less than $20 a month.

PC's are the latest to join the no-ban list, which included DVD players and cellular phones. Due to US trade embargoes, Cuba says it cannot hook up to undersea fiber-optic cables for internet service, and is limited to satellite internet service.

Venezuela is currently laying a undersea cable across the Caribbean to Cuba, but it is still uncertain whether Cuban authorities will allow unfettered access once the cable is completed.

Think about the hard working citizens that try their damnest to survive under such duress. You can almost guarantee that places such as these, become dumping grounds for old tech at exorbitant prices. Exploitation in the making yet again.
