Jury selection has begun in the trial against Missouri mother Lori Drew, who is being tried under cyber crime laws in relation to the suicide death of 13-year-old Megan Meier. Drew has been charged with conspiracy and accessing protected computers.

Drew is accused, along with her daughter and some of her daughter's friends, of creating an identity, that of a 16-year-old boy, and striking up a relationship with the emotionally unstable Meier in 2006.

The "boy", Joshua, then broke up with Meier, saying the world would be better offwithout her. The identity was created after Meier had a fight with Drew's daughter. Drew is being charged under Missouri's Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
