Modded Xbox360 Issue

New to the forum and dont know much about the 360 so bear with me.

My friend bought the 360 from another friend, it came modded but we have no details to how it was modded. The system played backed up games perfectly fine and then all of a sudden had the red ring of death! Xbox support repaired the unit but it will no longer play back ups. How can I tell if the mod still exists? Is there a flash available to "fix the drive"? How can I tell which drive I even have?
I appreciate ANY help you guys can give.

dude they dont repair ur xbox and send it bak to u. they give you another refurbished xbox so no its not modded just mod it urself now lol.

Not sure who told you that, i marked my xbox so i could know if they "repaired" or "replaced" and they "repaired", trust me. Unless they really replaced ALL the internals and not the case :)
