ok, so this is going to be kind of long. i have modded a wii before with the d2c pro or something like that. used wii clip and it all worked fine. so i have a general idea of how all this works.

so i'm trying to mod another wii and i already have a wiikey. the problem is that the wiikey is for older wiis. so i got my friends older wii and the wiikey works fine with his. what i want to do is swap the dvd drives of the old and new wii. i've done it but a problem arises. the NEW wii with the OLD drive that has the wiikey installed will not read original games. at least it will not read wiisports, which is the only game i have to test it with. now it WILL read burned games just fine. the OLD wii with the NEW drive reads original games just fine and with it's original drive with the wiikey it can read both burned and original games. again, wiisports is the only thing i have on hand. i don't see why swapping dvd drives should be a problem. i've updated the wiikey to 1.9s/x or whatever. it won't read wiisports and it also won't read the homebrew channel disc i used on the first wii i modded. oh yeah, the firmware on the new drive is 3.3u. please help guys. i've searched all over the forums and google and haven't really found a whole lot. any help would be great.

edit: the newer wii also does not have the homebrew channel. i thought maybe i'd try to downgrade the firmware to 3.2. i've read that it shouldn't make a difference, but i figured it might help. so i'm in the process of obtaining a pal copy of zelda twilight to try to install the homebrew channel.

edit2: it just works all of a sudden. maybe it's a dirty disc or something? i dunno. but thanks anyway. mods, please delete. thanks.
