Well guys, I have an older, modded 360 and I'm getting this Open Tray message but only with some backups of my games. It is possible that I have an older firmware with which these games are unsupported?
Any easy remedy to this or is updating the firmware the only way?
Any easy way to update the firmware or do I have to pull the optical drive and go through all the steps of flashing it again?
Thanks for any help you can provide. I also used the search function but was unable to come up with anything that answered my questions.
The problem is very intermittent.
My original of Burnout Revenge always plays
Upon first booting the 360 and inserting a game (backups), it will play (but not all of my backups, only a select few ie:GRAW2, NFS Carbon). The ones that don't play regularly would be COD3, Conan, and Halo 3 to name a few.
After I finish a gaming session, if I go to insert another game the 360 will consistently give me the Open Tray error, even if it happens to be one of the playable backups.
Restarting, clearing cache, reinserting disks, turning the 360 horizontal, ect. all have no effect.
Even going back to the backup I was playing only a few minutes ago fails.
Bad laser? Need to calibrate pot? Need a firmware update?
Also, is there a way to find out exactly what firmware version I'm running?
