Go to start>run, type in cmd and select ok. In the next window, type in ipconfig/all and select enter. In the info there, is the ip address for the Default Gateway the same as the one you're trying? If not, try it, should be though. Other than that, don't know.

Try turning off the Windows Firewall temporarily and see if it
makes any difference.

I have the same problem,
I have a Dlink 624 with verizon, and I followed all the steps on port foward
I've done the port foward thing before, and it's worked perfectly, and now it dosn't work at all
there's a little red circle saying "not connectable, a firewall/router is limiting your internet traffic. You need to open up a port so others can connect to you." the port forward test doesn't work either

Double check your static ip is correct at cmd and Network connection's, it's not hard to make a mistake. Ensure randomize port is unchecked at options>preferences>connection and that it is over 10,000. Also that UPnP is disabled. Try Protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 If this doesn't work, try connecting directly to the modem, if you're able, to see if that give's a green light or did you check to see if port forward list's your modem, some have firewall's?

Speed's could relate to any number of thing's you have no control over but ensure your upload speed is set correctly. If you haven't set it, take this speed test and make a note of your upload speed: http://www.speedtest.net/ now go to options>speed guide>connection type and select the number closest to yours (up or down) and utorrent will automatically set thing's for you to about 80%. If you want to set it manually at options>preferences>connection, divide the u/l in the speed test by 8 and times it by .8 (80%) and enter that. The speed test is in kb and utorrent show's download's in kB so your 50 kB is actually 400 kb ( 1kB [kilobyte] = 8 kb [kilobit]). Take the test later a few times at different time's to get a good average. You can play around with Global connections and connected peers at options>preferences>Bittorrent (200 each is a good starting point). And join a private site, you have no way of knowing what seed's on public site's have their upload set to, probably very low. Actually, lot's of peer's may not be a bad thing.

thanks, I am getting about 75 kb/s
I was wondering if upload speed affects the download speed, because before i was uploading 30kb/s and now it's 300kb/s. Is that normal?

300 seem's awfully high but is that kb or kB, that is about 38 kB which is normal. What result's does that speed test give you for D/L and U/L?

it's a lot better now
i'm downloading at 128 kB/s and uploading at 223 kB/s
this is my speed test result:

however all my speeds drop to single digits every 5 or so minutes, but then rises back to normal, why is that?
Thanks a aton

From those result's, your U/L is fine but your D/L is low. I see D/L speed's from 5 kB to 300+ kB depending on connections coming and going (speed will alway's fluctuate), amount I have in relation to other peer's, amount of seed's and peer's, could be something along those line's. Run this torrent, it should give excellent speed just to see. Run it for at Least 15 minutes by itself, you don't need to complete it and can delete it later, it's just to test your speed's, 2.41 has lot's of seed's and few peer's: http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/

my speeds for that torrent are:
upload: 0.1 kB/s
download: 99.3 kB/s

also, whenever I run a torrent, my internet sometimes dies. When I try to reconnect, it says that windows cannot find any networks. I have to disable and then enable my wireless card to get windows to detect my network. This sometimes happens (but a lot less) when I use an Ethernet cable. I was wondering how I could fix this.
Thanks a lot mistycat, u solved a lot of my problems

For the internet issue, maybe the Global and peer connection's are set too high. That's a good speed but I would think it(DL) should be higher, maybe at a low usage time like overnight.

Don't know, maybe borrow one to see, if that's possible. Maybe an ISP issue but don't mention torrent's. Currently have a D-Link 604+ and have had for year's with no issues.
