This is a problem with your USB drive. For some reason, it has lost communication with your computer.

Does anyone know why this would be? Maybe because its USB?

It could be the USB and it could be the power supply on your external drive.
Try shutting down programs running in the background.

I would think from the first log, in addition to what dialysis stated, that maybe your USB cable is faulty...do you have another to try? The second log simply shows an inability for your Philips burner to handle that media. You might try to get some of the older MKM001's or maybe look into another burner. Is this a laptop?

If it was a desktop I was just curious why your tower didn't have an internal burner that you would be using.

I see!!

Looks like you were right with the faulty cable. Got an old computer in the loft - got it out last night, out my dvd burner in and it worked!!

Thanks very much for your help
