Hi all
This is my first post so please be gentle with me..
I bought a second hand PSP 1003 G1 from Ebay a week or so back and like someone else has done "I UpGRADED to Sony 5.02 OFW by wireless connection. Anyways, having been on the net recently and seen so much stuff you can do to the PSP, "I now want to DOWNGRADE to a good CUSTOM FW.. This is where it gets a bit confusing..
Can someone give me a brief outline as too what Version of CFW I should run from memory stick To DOWNGRADE the SONY 5.02 FW (bearing in mind that i have never done it before).
( I do have a Pandora Battery and a 1gig card to use, which i have actually turned into a MAGIC MEMORY STICK, But then again IF I have put the wrong Software on it i could Brick the PSP in the process )
I only ask as their is so much Info on this subject and everyone has their own way of doing it.. and thought i would ask the EXPERTS..
Your help would be much appreciated
regards
Chris

The only way of knowing your pandora works is by trying it, how did you make it, did you use another psp with cfw?

Hi sn0wman1
I bought the Pandora Battery Online as the battery in my PSP 1003 was not the type you can modify.
I have not run the PSP with the Pandora & MMS yet and was just trying to get some info as to the CORRECT Version i need..

Hi there guys, i am currently on a PSP 5.02 ofw phat, i have a pandora battery and a 4gb memory card, which i converted to magic memory card using rains mms, now when i put in the mms and then the pandora battery, i get the green light, but the screen remains black...i have tried countless programs, and visited just about every forum, and still cannot find a solution, can some one please help out...this is really getting on my nerves.
i read on one forum that the whole process should work, but if the screen remains black it means that either the pandora battery or the mms was created wrongly, no since i bought the pandora battery ready made, i suspect it's the mms.
cheers.

Hi all
I have now sorted me PSP. I was on 5.02 Official Sony Firmware, Now i'm on 3.90 M33-2...Mind you i was a PSP VIRGIN about a month ago, but now i have invested in 3 PSP's and run 1 on 5.00 M33-2 & 1 on 3.71 M33-3 ( to run Remotejoy ) and the other as above..
Its great having all these fantastic sites out there dedicated to the PSP, But can be a bit confusing when trying to get the right programs/games/apps to run on certain firmware. I suppose it is all a bit hit and miss for me really as i'm still learning..
But hats off to all you guys who have made this all possible...
What i found by searching the Net and YouTube has been very helpfull and has turned my PSP's into something better than just a straight forward games console...
Excellent...

Ha good to here you got yours finally sorted mate, its amazing what you can do to your psp now, Kaka_22 it sounds like your mms hasnt been created properly or it could be your ms is too big, try using a smaller card1

I had done it previously with a 64mb memory card, and that didn't work either.
I even tried the same process on both Vista and XP, but they all result in the same thing.
perhaps i am doing something wrong, could you please tell me how you did yours PSPWilly?

i think a 64mb is too small, you should use a minimum of 128mb and max 1gig

Hi kaka_22
I used ( Catb50 Team's Magic Memory Stick Creator v2.0 FULL ) which i downloaded, The process is very straight forward and will downgrade the PSP to 3.80 M33-5.. Also there are others including ( 3.90m33_all_in_one ) which will downgrade any PSP to 3.90M33.
Hope this helps

I have a PSP-1001 Fat running the 5.02 OFW.
I'm trying to get either OFW 1.5 or any CFW.
I followed Larry's tutorial to a tee (good tutorial btw.. thanks) but when I go to launch any of the apps on the MS, they all say "This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted."
Weird thing is I have tried following other tutorials (a few videos on YouTube and another site) and they all ended up yielding the same result: nothing will run.. everything is corrupted.
Tried numerous downloads and numerous install and I am now confident it's not the files per say but more the reading of those files that isn't working.
Could it be that this MMS thing doesn't work with OFW 5.02?
Upgrading the damn FW is the first thing I did thinking what the heck, it can't hurt... now it looks like it screwed me right up.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Chaotik12
Format your memstick with the PSP, Then do an online search for
Downgrade371M33to150 It will downgrade any Firmware to 1.50 without the need for a Pandora Battery....
It does work as i have done it quite a few times on my 3 Phat PSP's

Thanks Willy...
I had a glimmer of hope when I saw your message. Very straightforward.
I did everything and then I try to launch the downgrader on the PSP, I get the same corruption message.
I'm starting to think it could be my MS.
I'm using a Lexar 4gb MS I just bought yesterday.
Could that be the problem ?

Hi Chaotik12
The memory stick might be the problem ( as i have not used that type i cannot really comment on it)
If you have another MemStick ( try that) and see if it rectifies the problem...
Have you got a MEMSTICK ADAPTER (that the psp Memstick goes into and you plug into your USB Port on the computer?) If you have try copying the files to the Memstick that way, If that fails then i would suggest getting a NEW Memory Stick or borrowing one so that you can eliminate it..

I've been hooking up the PSP via USB and copying the files on the MS through the PSP.
I do have a card reader also that I can use to access the card directly from the PC.
I will try that tonight and let you know if it worked.
Thanks !

Just chiming in...
I have a PSP-1001 with firmware version 5.01 installed. I tried both Pandora (this tutorial) and the Downgrade371M33to150 tool suggested above to no avail. I followed the procedures carefully a few times but every time I get the same "corrupted data" message Chaotik has been getting.
I have used both a USB cable and my computer's card reader... I also have tried formatting with both the built-in PSP tool and the Windows format tool. I tried both a 1GB and a 256MB memory stick (I confirmed that they are both Memory Stick Pro Duo as well; Lexar and Sandisk, respectively). What could be going wrong?
Also:
I just ordered a premade Pandora battery from Amazon (link). This will definitely let me downgrade to 1.50, right?
edit-
After further reading on this forum's PROPER tutorial, looks like I'll have to either use a battery like the one I ordered or hardmod my existing battery... guess I'll have to wait to get the Pandora battery in the mail and I'll see from there.

If you have 5.01 Official Sony Firmware YOU will definately need a Pandora Battery to downgrade it...I used "Catb50 Team's Magic Memory Stick Creator v2.0 FULL" to make the Memstick first on a 512 card, which downgraded my 5.02 Official Sony Firmware to 3.80M33 with a 1.50 Kernel. Also included was desperater 7 so i also updated with that as well. Once you have the Custom Firmware on your PSP then you can Upgrade and Downgrade all the different CFW's..

When making an mms Sonys Pro Duo always work better than the generics. I dont know what it is but they always work better.
I reccommend you use rains simple mms maker. GOOGLE it and you will find it. Click on the format memory stick option in the rain creators menu.

Ok if anyone has any ideas i would love them. I just bought a pandora battery and a magic memory stick. I was able to downgrade my friends psp 2000 and also was able to downgrade my old psp fat. However when i tried to downgrade my psp-2000 the nothing boots. I've tried every program and even tried righting coded to do it myself but nothing. I should note everyone that my psp-2000 is on OFW 5.02

Not going to lie, making a pandora mms is pretty complicated. It is easier if you have a psp that is already modded because then you can simply run desperter del cementario v8. Do any of you know someone with a modded psp?
@ecwfd21 if you just bought this perhaps it has an unmoddable ta_88v3 then youd be outa luck, find out what board you have.

I don't know if this thread is even still active but....
I tried the program that PSP Willy used, but after it had run, my PSP was still on 5.02 firmware.
