Ok, so I've been backing up movies for years using DVD Decrypter and Shrink. It seems to no longer be working and I must get with the times and find a current program. (You may have alreay gussed I'm just not a very techinical person.)
After lots of reading here it sounds like DVDFab is the way to go so I've downloaded it and have been trying to back up Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull but I've encountered several problems...
First my confusion...
Do I need to save it as an iso file to my harddrive and back up from there?
OR
Can I just select my dvd burner as my target location?
Now, my problems....
No matter how I try to save it ISO, Vidio TS or to a blank DVD it times out and I get an error that the program is not responding??? I've got a new computer that is more than able to handle any and all of these functions.
Thank you all so much in advance!

When I use DVDFab I always save the DVD to my hard drive as a Video_TS and Audio_TS folder. I only use DVDFab to decrypt and rip my DVDs. Then I run the ripped files through FixVTS, DVDShrink, and then burn using Imgburn.

I just tried it that way and when I got about 32% it said I needed to enable the path player. How do I do that?

Start/launch DVDFab HD Decrypter and do the following:
1) click on the "check" sign next to the "question" sign on top right
2) click on PathPlayer under "DVD"
3) make sure "Enable PahtPlayer when necessary" is checked
4) click OK and restart DVDFab HD Decrypter

Thanks so much.... Just to be sure before I start can I burn from here by selecting my burner as a target or do I need to set my target as a file?

Is your version a paid version or is it the free version? I believe the paid version you can automatically call out to burn with ImgBurn or VSO.
I'm using the free version simply to do the ripping part only, but I don't recommend auto-burn. However, the choice is yours.

That is correct in what alkohol stated about burning when using the paid version. I also agree with the NO autoburn statement. I always prefer to preview what I have done prior to burning to disk, but once again, your call.

I've always selected my dvd burner as the target. You should select your burn speed to about 6X and don't skimp on the brand of blank media you use. Sometimes with a new release DVD, dvdfab might not back it up, wait for a dvdfab update (usually a day or two) then retry it.
