That might happen if you use cheap media. When you say that it works some times and then it doesn't.Is that on the PC dvd drive or on a Standalone player?

Try updating firmware, and get all the M$ patches. IF you have the drive set to DMA try switching to PIO mode.

Hopes that helps

The transfer of data to and from an IDE hard disk, or from a CD-ROM:

http://www.veritest.com/bi/cont1998/199807/piodma.asp?visitor=

Well go into device manager ->then "IDE ATA\ATAPI controllers" -> Secondary IDE channel -> Properties ->
Advanced Settings. then change transfer mode to PIO only on Device 0 & 1

How much do you pay for ur dvd's 25,50,100 pack?
I only used Memorex once for my dvds and then I switched to Ritek media

what type of drive is it? + or - ppl say that cheap media doesnt work right but i think thats only in -r i think dvd+r uses a better dye or something cause i use cheap $.80 KHyperMedia +r and they always work- if you have an older burner you might need a firmware update- just search on yahoo.
