Okay, this is how it is. My old Xbox 360 got the Red Rings of Death and I removed the hard drive before shipping it to Microsoft. I'm referring to the Premium Xbox 360's hard drive, i.e. the 60GB? one.
Now I have a whole new unit which I'm considering to leave un-modded so I will be able play online with it. However, before I do this, I want to know if using the old hard drive on the new console will cause any issues.
For example, I remember hearing that Microsoft periodically scan your hard drive's profiles for information regarding the games that have been played on the console. And, upon finding any potential suspicious information, ban the console's serial.
The reason why I'm concerned is due to the backups I used to play while using the old Xbox 360 and hard drive, i.e. the old hard drive has information which was gathered from backups.
I don't think I need to get anymore specific as I'm sure anyone who knows what [i]I[i] want know will get the idea.

in theory the information on your HD is tied to a console ID... and since you've gotten a new one back from m$soft it will have a different console ID so perhaps the information on your HD won't matter.
if you wanted to be extra safe you could take apart the HD, hook it to a computer... and use a program like hddhackr to backup the security sector... then format the drive, and restore the security sector...
