Wireless Networking Adaptor cannot work with WPA2 security

Hello,
I have bought an xbox360 recently with a Wireless Networking Adaptor, because in my house we only have a wireless network.
But the problem is making connection. It seems that the Wireless Networking Adaptor doesn't work with WPA2 security.
So now I want to make it just a WPA security, but I have no idea how I should do this.
To be precise, it's a WPA2-PSK security. I know the password for it.
I hope someone can help me with this. If more information is needed please ask for it.

Alrighty then. What you need to do is change the encryption method on your router. I can help you more if you can provide manufacture and model number of your wireless router.

It is an Eminent EM4450
On the bar code there are very tiny numbers/letters:
KT99CTQC-W22*
But I don't know if you need that (It might be a bit different, because the numbers/letters were so small I couldn't read it very good)

That should be the one. It says it has a 4 port switch so i would hook it directly up to the switch itself. Then go to your control panel to network connections and double click on the active lan connection.
It will bring up a window with 2 tabs at the top. The one displayed is General, the other one is Support. Select the Support tab.
Copy down your default gateway. This is the number we're going to use to get to the config settings in the router.
Open up your internet browser and type that number in. You will get a logon screen. Try admin as the user and admin as the password.
This is the default for many routers. Then you'll have to find your wireless settings and change it to WPA.
After that click apply or ok. Now you want to write down the wep encryption key. It should be listed on the same page as the wep encryption settings.
Once you wrote down your key disconnect from the switch and connect wirelessly. If everything works try it with the xbox.
I did a quick google search for you and found that a lot of people are having this problem and they usually set it all up manually. So if you have problems connecting let me know and we'll try that.

It all worked, but I don't know what option to choose. I think I can handle it myself from now but in this house there are other people and I have to make sure everything goes according to plan. So I have made a screenshot of the page (which I managed to get to with your help :))
What should I choose?
The options I have:
WEP
WPA/WPA2
WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK
I think I should use the last one and select WPA-PSK after that?
I tried this, and one message came up that the wireless network will reboot. After that I stopped, because I didn't know if it was the good one, because you are talking about the wep encryption key, so which should I choose?

Go with WEP key. And don't bother selecting 128bit WEP key. Just go with 64bit key.
If anyone tells you 128bit WEP key is more safer than 64bit key they need to be smack up the head.
A common easy key to make for your new 64bit WEP key would be like your home phone number or such.

I made it WPA-PSK and I still have internet after changing the settings, but the problem with the xbox360 still occurs. Should I change it to WPA (without the -PSK)? Or just to WEP? But then I alsow have to change the password?

Read that and you'll better understand.
If you live in a rual area it really doesn't matter if you have security even enabled. Even just for testing it's not going to matter at all. You can just turn off wireless security to test the connection to see if your 360 works or not.
After it's confirmed working try to pick a higher security protocol and see if that works. If it works select the next step up.
When i lived in detroit i would take security off my network and see how many people would connect to it, then i could ban their mac address. I thought it was pretty funny it ended up being the landlords son.
Anyway usually a good rule of thumb is if you have other wireless networks in your area you need to enable security.
I usually use a program called net stumbler. You can download that here.
Scan for other wireless networks (this progam even finds networks without a SSID). If you see any network other than your own you should enable wireless security. Also if you have any other networks broadcasting on the same channel you're broadcasting, then you should change the channel.

It is not THAT insecure. Yes WPA fixes everything that WEP had but how many people do you actually know hacks WEP networks?
To hack WEP networks is alot of hassle and you need very specific wireless chips which are no longer in production today and very few can be found in the used market. The likely hood of your WEP network being hacked would be the same as winning the lottery.
If you can use WPA with the xbox360. Go for it. If you can't then go ahead and use WEP. Nothing wrong in doing so.

Thank you again for your messages.
There are other networks in the area, so I do need protection. I am going to try to use a WEP protection (I can choose between 64bit 128bit and 152bit).
But I am going to try no protection first, just to check if my xbox can use it

Hmm, another problem has occurd. If I change the networksettings the other people with Vista can just change there settings so they have internet again. But one person has XP, and I don't know how to set that connection up. So I had to change it back to the original and now the internet works with everyone again (except for my xbox ofcourse).
