i have had a little look and cannot find an answer to my problem..hope someone can help.
i have just got myself the 360 own brand wireless bridge..however i have no interweb connection or anything at home. but i did find next door(s) zyxel router that luckily had "no security"
i got all the way through the 4 step connection test bit but it fails right at the end. the ip and subnet etc.. all fills in at first but when it fails it returns to 0000 and kicks me out of my profile.

can i not connect becuase they are not on net? or router or modem or whatever turned off? or is there something i am missing.? or not doing right?

i am tight as hell (will pay for 360live its worth it) and i know theres a way for me to get on live without having to pay big corps monthly interweb charge.

any ideas, help or views welcome. keep it simple me not too techno clever.

2 things. first, you can have a router setup for home network only and no internet connected to it.

And 2nd, if they have DSL which is more than likely the case then only one computer can connect at a time and you have to input the specific IP configuration so your probably not gonna get into there network. But you never know keep trying (i would try with a computer first though.

using peoples unsecured wifi is a crime dont do it

try this knock on there door and say i have detected your wifi, i dont have internet at thenmoment if i give you a tenner a month can i use it ? worst they say is no
my neighbour approached me this way (serously) he can access it when im at work (all timed from the router) and i declined payment (xbox live doesnot use much bandwith unless downloading hundreds of demos

We can't/won't help you commit wifi theft.
Have you tried connecting the 360 via ethernet/via wifi on your own router ?
