Okay, so someone gave me a broken PSP and I pretty much have everything under control, but I don't know a lot about PSPs except for the fact that I have the fat version.

The person who gave it to me accidentally lost the rubber piece that connects the 4 contacts on the joystick to the 4 pads on the motherboard. I figured I would just connect them by wire, so I busted out the soldering iron and found that the 4 pads were not copper and they simply melted and stuck to the iron's tip.
No problem, I just carved off the isolation on top of the traces that the pads were attached to, exposing the copper allowing me to solder the wires to them with ease.
After the soldering I applied some clear nail polish to the exposed copper to prevent corrosion, covered up the new joints with plastic electric-safe tape (To prevent shortage due to the metal plate on top of the circuit board that the LDC screen sits on), and closed everything back up.

The LCD screen is also cracked into a thousand pieces, so I ordered a new one from a good Amazon seller and it probably won't arrive until next week.
I can only see about 1/8 of the entire LCD clearly, but it's not enough to navigate the menu.
I know from seeing another post on this forum that you can't navigate through the menu with the joystick, so I would like to figure out a way that I can navigate to some sort of menu option that I can test the joystick with.
I do not have any PSP games and I do not have a memory card.
So in a nutshell, I can't see much on the LCD, I fixed the joystick, and I would like to test it out somehow without the use of a game or a memory card.
I do, however, have a USB cable that fits in the PSP that I ordered for my Verizon Wireless Motorola RAZR V3m.
If anyone can find an option/tool and directions to it from startup (Press Left Twice, Press X, Press Down 4 Times, etc..) I would greatly appreciate that.
