I have a phat psp ( with cfw on it ) in which is inoperable as far as games is concerned thans to my lady lending it to a kid without my knowledge. The nub is jacked. went to youtube to see if I could remedy it myself with no success. I've ordered a replacement stick from dealextreme (hasn't arrived yet) to see if a replacement will work. My question is if the replacement doesn't work and I have to get a new one would it be easier to just get a new phat one or is it worth it to try to find a slim one the can get cfw placed onto it ( I have a pandora and mms already) Basically my question boils down to this do the new phats have motherboards which can't be flashed as well as the 3000 series of slims

Rest assured you wont have to worry about getting a new psp.

What exactly got "jacked up" was it just the nub of the analog compartment? Explain what it looks like and what kind of reactions happen on screen due to this problem. (does it scroll by itself, etc.)

If anything, you should just be able to take the faceplate off and unscrew the analog portion attached to the faceplate then replace it with a new one. If you're experiencing scrolling in games without touching the analog, then try fidgeting with the little clear piece that rests on top of the contact points for the analog compartment. (it'll be where the analog compartment sits on when you place the faceplate back down. Beside the home menu bar and screen.)

well it's different with each game, but I can't control the character on screen ( the way I should be able to ), the character will move when the stick is in the still position, i cleaned the connections as shown in a youtube vid, as well as messing with that little plastic piece on the contact point which I could be doing incorrectly, it's very hard to see and make sure you have it positioned correctly but I believe i've got in right now cause at one point the characters on screen wouldn't move at all, where now it just goes on it's own straight and is very hard to move to the side, and in a strafing motion

just keep fidgeting with that plastic piece a bit. Thats what sounds to be your problem. Even though its in, it could be positioned a nose hair off and you wouldnt be able to tell. When you fidget with it this time, turn your psp on while your fidgeting with it so you can see the progress and whether or not its working for you at all.

I have the same issues with mine when i open it up to do mods here and there. All i do is what i described above until it works.
