i have a modded ps2 slim that needs the laser replaced; can anyone recommend the best replacment laser on the market? i bought a PVR-802W from ebay and it's crap, my old broken laser reads backups better. can anyone help me out? i just don't want to waste money buying random replacment lasers. thx

yup, i removed the solder dot correctly. and the laser works fine when reading original ps2 games, but it has a hard time reading backups. my questions is what is the highest quality laser out there? sony don't sell replacement parts, and they make you send your ps2 to a repair center, and if they find its been modded they won't fix it. so i have to settle for an alternative make replacement laser. the media i'm using is TDK burned at 2x speed with pioneer dvr-104. the discs don't have any serious scratchs on them, so my guess is the pvr-802w is a poor quality laser, but i'm really not sure. thx
i'm using dvd-r tdks with imgburn, and swap magic 3.8 coder.(no mod chip) instead i took out the plastic buttons & springs, and soldered the switches permanently, i did'nt want to open my ps2 all the time to adjust the switch depressor's, thus i voided my warrenty and sony would see soldered switchs; anyway's i'll try a faster burn speed of 4x and look into KHM-430. thx for all your help smokyrain.
