Hey folks, I'm having trouble with my (fat) PSP, I did as much as I could and cannot solve this problem I'm having and I hope some experts here can help me shed some light on this matter. My PSP had CFW 3.90 M33-3 installed for a while and suddenly the buttons ceased to work during FF7: Crisis Core; the volume and brightness buttons worked but the D-pad and the other buttons doesn't. Funny thing is all the buttons work in recovery mode, so, I figure I use the recovery option in the M33 firmware and fix it that way. The recovery mode didn't work for me, I kept getting "game could not be started" error so I resorted to Pandora battery which I successfully downgraded to the 1.5 firmware and the buttons worked again.

Although everything seemed to be working okay I can't edit my PSP nickname in 1.5 firmware, it goes into that keypad and quickly exits. I figure I give the CFW another try and ungraded back to 3.52 M33-4 and then some really whacky stuff happens like, the volume would mute and un-mute constantly and the volume adjust by itself then after I kept upgrading back to CFW 3.90 M33-3 the buttons stops working and I'm back to square one. Whew... that was a lot, if anyone have an idea of what's going on, I would greatly, greatly appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.

To rule out any settings that may have been changed, format your flash1 drive.

Was your upgrade/downgrade done via pandora? Did you tinker with any options from the pandora menu? (nand, idstorage, etc.)

I've heard of people having this issue before but usually manually restoring to 1.50 and manually upgrading back to cfw works out the kinks.

Thanks for the quick reply Staxx. Before the PSP started to act up I did not use Pandora to upgrade or downgrade, after it did start to act up I had no choice (buttons didn't work) but to use Pandora to downgrade, and I just followed one of the guides to upgrade back to CFW. Also didn't play with any settings on Pandora. I will format my flash1 drive tonight when I have time to see if that helps at all. Thanks for the help!

Alrighty, formatted Flash1 drive and it stopped the random volume problem but I still cant get into the PSP keypad on CFW 3.52 M33-4. Updated from 3.52 to 3.90 and buttons still doesn't work.

The only other thing i can think of is to take the faceplate off and clean your contact points for the problem areas.

I know it may sound dumb, but make sure your psp power button isnt in the "hold" position.

Could really be the contacts on the buttons? I mean it's weird the buttons work in recovery mode just not when I'm in the XMB.

I'm only offering suggestions of what i can think of.

It pretty much sounds like what happens when you have your psp on hold though.

Aside from what i've suggested in my previous posts i cant think of anything else.
