This is why you can't have nice things... I let my friend use my PSP when he was over my house, he left it on a ledge and none the less it fell off. It fell about 1 1/2 meters to be exact (4 1/2 ft). Luckily it fell on the UMD Drive side, or so I thought, 2 weeks later when I actually decided to use a UMD it didn't read the disk. I listened in on the drive and I heard no movement whatsoever. So I have 2 choices as of now, try to get my friend to fork over $70 for Sony to repair my PSP OR pray that the problem is indeed the UMD "Drive" and replace the whole component for $20.74 from DealExtreme. Of course 1. I don't know if that is indeed the problem 2. I'll need to follow exact instructions in order to disassemble it 3. Any mistakes will likely cost me more moeny.

Is their any possible fix for this or something I may be overlooking? Everything else in my PSP works fine and I used a whole bunch of setting changes on my CFW to see if that was it. Alas, she still doesn't read UMD's.

Maybe its set at no umd mode, try to change it back to normal. Just a guess.
