What could be considered the Photoshop of AVItoDVD? Best conversion quality, Fastest speeds, most supported formats, ect. I've been using DVD Flick which I can't complain about but was really wondering if there's anything out there that tops it.
Considering format supported/quality/price/speed- no, none that I have been made aware. ConvertxtoDVD is another good one, but not free, so in my book it cannot beatDVD Flick.
AVI's (Xvids/Divx) are meant to be end products, not DVD precursors. That said any of the free apps that use HCenc for encoding will provide the best quality. DVD Flick is pretty easy to beat, picture quality wise.
I never used HCenc and such, but I doubt it can do miracles. The conversions that I did with DVD Flick looked excellent( for a video that's been butchered a few times). I think you can only improve the quality so much, after that, it really doesn't matter to the naked eye, it's all theory and numbers on paper. If there were a way to make lemons out of lemon juice, that would be the winner.
Flick uses ffmpeg for encoding. Although decent it has been eclipsed in recent years. HCenc (free) is an ongoing project, with frequent updates, and some of the best video minds around helping/testing and suggesting improvements. There's been more than a few posts on these forums where folks were disappointed with Flick's output.
