Im looking to buy a DVD player that can play DivX (Im tired of having to convert these files!)

I read a review of the Kiss-1000 and yamada 6100 but they both seem to have plus and minus reviews. Im looking to spend about £110 max.

Whats the best player at that price?
Others ive considered...
H&B DX-3220
Xcico AEP400
Sigmatek TEK dvd x-300

Thanx in advance for any reply!!

H&B DX-3220 propably with 800x600/75Hz VGA output and 5.1 audio decoder, also it's got the newest Mediatek 1389DE chipset. Subtitles don't work yet though.

Get the Yamada 6600, do a search for it, it does everything the 6000/6100 does and a few other little things, but the 6600 looks good too.

Did just look at Google - Yamada 6600 & the only differences are :

? Global motion compensation (GMC)

? Quarter pixel accurate motion compensation (Q-PEL)

And both of those features arent really relevant for everyday use. I personally would get, if you are using a HDTV or Projector/Plasma/LCD and player tha supports these formats and Progressive scanning. This is only really applicable to those who wish for line doubling and higher quality with a HDTV.

Gaz it only matters if you have a HDTV. It can increase the number of lines and usually tehrefore the quality. I use a P-scan unit with my Projector. Amazing results.

Good. I didnt want to send it back. I dont think that i will ever use Progressive scanning, not for a few good years anyway. So, do you think that i made a good choice in standalone players?

It is a nice player which allows you to save loads of time in NOT having to encode movies now !: )

Yeah it is a great player, the specification are pretty good. For me its just lacking two things:
1). Progressive scanning capabilities
2). Component Video Out
But as mentioned before, this is for me being picky, but its great for what you need it for.

Wouldn't know , nor do I really care as many films I have are NTSC (hehehe)
Did you read up about that though Chris as I didnt even know about Progressive function until I looked thru the manual on the first day of recieveing..?

gaz_0001: Internally & it is the DMS chip I have installed [only one to be f/w upgradeable via bin/cue d/l for bootable CD-R...so do it yourself & w/out opening PS2]
