I know this is probably discussed below but I want to make sure I have this right. I just got a new computer and I am not computer smart so here goes. I am trying to burn a normal dvd to a dvd-r. The software that I need to download is DVDShrink to compress the movie to my harddrive and also NERO to actually burn the dvd from the harddrive to my DVD-r. IS this correct?? Do you need to buy NERO or can you download it like DVDshrink for free?? Is it necessary to have both. I really appreciate any and all help

You can use any burning software you wish. An older version of Nero 5.5.10.xx will do fine for burning DVD's. There are user guides a program links in my signature. It will help you with DVD Shrink also
