Hi, i'd like to share my problem with you guys and maybe we'll end up having a solid solution for the HD Playback complex task over the 360 console!

So here is the story, It's been a long time i was trying to play the MKV on my 360 and now with this nice guide that have been release on this awesome web spot ---> AfterDawn --> http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/...on_xbox_360.cfm

I was finaly able to make a couples of compatible super Great mp4 Avc/Acc movies...

But!

Once in a while, a movie simply dont work and it's driving me nuts... I dont even care re-encoding it if im to loose 10% quality or so but anyway here is a specific file that is giving me trouble...

(Link removed...)VideoInfo.jpg

Thanks for your opinion... Most of them work, but this one is already h.234(4.1)and is not working, i even try to make it 4.0 but still doesnt work, i also tryed a litle software to make sure it start on a keyframe but this also didnt work.

Im just wondering if there is a h264 stream checker somewhere that would tell me if the h264 stream is good and if not, TELL ME WHY and HOW TO FIX IT!! (of course the rendered mp4 out of YAMB plays well on a PC.

I'm getting obsessed with that...

Thanks guys, good luck to all of us !

very very tired so excuse the hurried post

go on autobins 2008 and then into the media section and get encode360 (or google encode 360)

it basicly converts from mkv to wmv (for 360`s) with out loss of quality and keeps all sound channels etc very custamizble i use it all the time (using it right now lol) does take a little while to encode a movie hope that helps

mrgreaper Thanks, ill give it a try, i forgot to mentionned that im tlaking about 720p Streams, anyway, i'ma try that encoding software! thats really great if it keeps the 5.1 as im gonna have a DD system soon!

Anyone have an other suggestion?, I'll tell ya all if it worked for me with the 360 encoder but i'd like to keep it mp4. If i'm to end up with 5.1 sound with the mkv and same quality i might consider this solution since ACC nero encoding for the sound is only 2 CHANNEL. Encoding what is already compressed is scary but who knows ! It's about time we have a reliable solution for HD playback on 360 (5.1 sound)!

Thanks, and still waiting for more opinions :)

it doesnt work since im using xp pro 64 bit...

so tired of those uncompatible "WM9 and .NET" detection problems..

anyway, i tried with x32 wm9 encoder and x64 wmp9 encoder.. its not working here..

Trancode 360 tells me that i dont have .net frame work wich is false...

Anyway, i guess I'll just re-encode my movie with avidemux .. and then ill Joint the h.264 stream with the ACC and thats it.. if anybody have an idea ?

its definitly encode 360 not transcode :)

http://dcunningham.net/encode360/

i encode all my streams to 720p as thats what my projector is set up for(you just change the automatic scaling option

this following thread is aimed at vista 64 users but it may work for xp 64 as well

Sorry if it wasnt clear i did tryed both: Encode 360 dosnt recognize my wm9 encoder and Transcode 360 doest recognize my .net Framework..

All this because im under win xp 64....

Anyway im really about to give up on all this and get myself a PC to play my movies .. well i do have one but its a poor p4 and the other day i came in with a 3d card that would handle HD but it appeared to be incompatible with the p4 i had..

Thanks man !

Posted this in another topic, but it's as valid here as there...

This is how I did it.

Mine had video in MPEG4/AVC/h.264 and audio in DTS.

When working with different codecs and directshow the computer can be very confused after installing/uninstalling all the different codec-packages... Maybe that's why you're experiencing your problems.

I recently installed some pack called Community Codec Pack, it was like a "updated" ffmpeg installation..

Try uninstalling all your different codecs and reinstalling them. That might help.

Well, u are damn right but the real problem is that there is a compatibility issue with Encode 360 and win XP 64bits.. while there is a patch for vista 64... anyway. the other problem is my mkv , there seem to be a glitch in the h264 stream..

I did install encode 360 on an old p4 i had but it took 2 days to encode it lol and the movie was full of artifact because of the lack of power of the p4 i guess..

I want to point out that the method im using to Remux my MKV is realy doing great but sometimes, a movie out of 20 is not working, like if there is something wrong with the stream,,

anyway as i'm writing this i'm not encoding the faulty mkv with EncodeHD over my Xp 64. Encode HD uses mp4 so we prolly loose the 5.1 channel, but for the moment i dont care, i dont have a DD system.

Ill post back to tell if it worked :)

later guys

I guyz, im back..

Im posting hoping that somebody would have figured why the god damn REMUXING guide posted on after dawn doesnt work for every h264 ac3 720p mkv ?

Encode HD does work everytime but i feel like its eating a bit of the quality, well the file is inneed smaller..

So bottom line..
if you have vista 32 or xp 32 u can go with encode 360..
if you have xp 64 go for encode HD

If you habe time to waste try the god damn random working after dawn tutorial.. (mkvextract + megui + yamb mp4box )

btw the new yamb is awesome !

ive tryed to find out why some mkv --> mp4 dont work i just can't if anyone have a clue..

have a good one !
