Hi all, firstly i would like to say great site!
i have just purchased a psp 2nd hand for my daughter, it has firmware 5.02, the psp is a 1001, i have read the sticky and would like some guidance please.
i have downloaded the 3 part file to create the mms this was done on windows vista 32bit.
I have followed this tutorial to the word and when i come to run the pandora battery creator on the psp it says that the file is corrupt ?
would this problem be due to running it on vista?
Any help greatly appreciated :)
Thanks

No, your psp is reading it correctly. It displays as corrupt because the pandora battery creator is a homebrew application. Homebrew applications can only be run on 1.50 firmware or custom firmware. I'm sure you already know what custom firmware is about since it seems your on the track to enabling it on your psp.
What you'll need to do is 1 of the folling 2 options...
1. You can hard mod your battery. In this process you'll be opening up the casing of the battery and lifting a pin inside it. If you go this route i would suggest looking into "pandora with a switch" so that you can switch it between normal mode and pandora mode.
OR
2. You can purchase a pandora battery (sometimes referred to as a tool battery) from ebay or datel.
*EDIT*
Forgot to mention, if you know someone who already has custom firmware on their PSP, then you can get them to create the pandora battery for you with the program that you have been trying to use.

right guys, i have done the battery hard mod, and when i insert the battery the green power light automaticaly comes on as it should.
But as per the thread it stated to leace for 5 minutes or until the power light switches itself off, i have waited nearly an hour and the power light is still on, i took mms out along with battery and booted up with charger, its still at 5.02 firmware??
so i reformatted ms and made mms again only to find the psp stays on the black screen with the power light stuck on?
Am i doing somthing wrong guys?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the help staxx. i have already done all this, the battery is now modded, but all the tutorials refer to a psp that is running homebrew already where mine isnt, i just can seem to get my psp to read the mms using the modded battery, i understand the mod on the battery was to make the psp boot from the mms?
I insert mms, insert hard modded battery, blue light comes on, black screen and nothing else...
thanks

Your problem is most likely just the mms now. People have trouble with it on Vista a lot of time. I'm going to offer 2 suggestions...
1. Install the MMS files using an XP computer (if available)
2. Try using "Total Newbi Installer" to install the files on your Vista OS. You might have to run the program as administrator (right click the program and run as admin)
Total newbi installer - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/591203

i have also done the battery check and that seems ok.
format ms on psp
connect psp to laptop (running xp) and connect via usb
run start.exe
follow on screen instructions
wait untill finished
unplug psp from usb, and mains lead.
connect hard modded battery
blue power light comes on (no lights flickering from ms)
wait........ i even left it all day today wile at work and it just killed the battery
when i started again tonight i started with 100% power in battery..
just to check the files i have in the easy installer are
uniunbr
2
3
copying.rsx
emx
fatextc
rar32
rarx371
slimpan
copying.emx

Insert the battery, then while holding your L trigger button insert the pandora battery. Keep holding it and after a few seconds, a service menu should pop up.
Dont know if you knew to do that, or if the tutorial told you to do that.

I see, sorry to say but you're going to have to format your memory stick and try installing again.
You can give this installer a shot if you like, run this on xp as well.
Originally posted by 713tex: 1) Download and install PSP Grader v005 Lite by Klutsh.
2) Download Official 3.90 EBOOT and extract the EBOOT.PBP file.
3) Start PSP Grader and connect your PSP to your PC. Make sure to backup your MS because this will format it.
4) Click on the "Load eBOOT" button and locate the 3.90 EBOOT you just extracted.

5) Click on "Booster's Mulit IPL" and on "Format Memory Stick".
6) Now the best part, click on the "Create Pandora Stick" button on the bottom right.
When it's done click OK. You now have a MMS.
As for your battery, you'll have to hard mod it. Which consist of opening it and cutting a small pin. I've never done it before so I can't help you there. You will be able to use it as normal by using the "pencil lead" trick.
If you want you can send it to me and I'll soft mod it and send it back that same day. Soft modding is also reversible and is the best option in my opinion.
To install CFW..
1) Insert your MMS into your PSP.
2) Hold down the left shoulder button and then insert the Pandora Battery.
3) Press X on "Despertar Cementerio v5"
4) Then press X to install 3.90M33. Wait untill it's done and press X to shut down. You now have CFW.

Does your memory stick light flicker at all when you insert the battery while holding the L trigger? If it does, try pressing X a couple times...if you see the memory stick keep flickering after pressing x a couple times then it should be working.
The only other suggestion i have would be to try and manually install the files instead of using an easy installer for your mms.
Aside from those, im all out of suggestions.
