hi all, as above title. im a complete newbie to the site and to dvb of any kind. i would really appreciate any advice at all from anyone regarding the box i have just been given - starview the super box.
i have trauled the forum for hours over the last two days before joining and learnt a little - like i didnt even know the box was made by starview! (it doesnt say!)
anyway, right, down to business...
firstly as i said, i have done my research before asking silly questions (i hope lol!). i gather the box is sold with a null lead but as i was given it second hand freebie, i didnt get one and so i managed to buy what i believe is a null lead and it fits. its just a 9 pin-9 pin untwisted pair lead. my problem is that i have connected it to and old laptop and adjusted environment setings etc but not sure if the pc can 'see' the box as i also get update fail everytime i try to update?

i have followed the links etc for new firmware and updates but my big q is, will someone please explain what these are- firmware, app version, boot version and bin files etc plus what ever else the box may need to work?

i have tried to update box (i think!) and key is on etc but even though i try to scan on all service providers, it finds approx 300 tv and 50 radio but mainly all blank screens. it will say updating and saves but doesnt make a difference! the signals are all very strong too! is this to do with the thread regarding most of uk loosing channels?

my box finds security warning 'channel' on auto search?

my box boots and says ld80?
