I tried to burn a playlist of audio to a blank cd-r disk. The total readings of that playlist is 173.5 mb and the capacity of the cd-r is 700mb. Also, i was informed by Itune software that it would be 2.5 hours long. I then get a message that there is not enough room on this blank disk, and would i like to split it on to another. I stopped and was puzzled. Not enough room?

My guess is that you are trying to record the audio files in the "audio format" for the CD-R, which means the software will convert the files to a format CD players will recognize and play. Since the 700-MB CD-R can only hold 80 minutes worth of music, the 2.5 hours won't fit.

You need to record the files as data files so that the disc can be played on a device that can read and convert MP3 files or other compressed formats. Some DVD players can do that. Most CD players will not recognize the compressed formats and will refuse to play a CD-R unless it is the digital audio format used by regular CDs.

Thanks ...I didn't know that data means you can make it an audio recording. I guess the software "Itune" has it programed that way...so I did manage to make the copy on one disk, via XP's Windows cd burning program and all is well.
