I'm trying to record from my VCR (which plays both PAL and NTSC) onto my PC with the Leadtek 2000 XP Card. When I record from an NTSC video into the NTSC encoding option, the video is perfect quality, but there's no color; if I capture in with the PAL encoding option, it's in color along with the usual PAL/NTSC distortion from the frame-rate and dimension difference. Any idea how to get it to capture the NTSC Video in color? I've already installed the drivers for both PAL and NTSC and I've run out of options.

Any ideas would be gratefully accepted, and sorry for posting again!

First of all where do you live ? US or Europe ?
It seems your input mode is still NTSC, hence the
black and white PAL picture,
Maybe also a issue how does your vcr output the PAL tape ? as a "pure" PAL or NTSC standard signal ?
check your VCR manual, here in Europe, the vcr's
make a PAL60 signal from a NTSC tape, so a lot
capture devices have problems with this, because it's
not broadcast PAL or NTSC, but TV's accept the PAL60
signal....

Bedankt, Thanks,

Fugitive.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I've been away, so haven't been able to check for replies.

I live in the UK, and the Input Mode has been set to NTSC, because in PAL it's in colour but hte picture is completely screwed with the frame rate/dimension screw-up.

It's a black and white NTSC, I've tried chanigng it from PAL to NTSC (I'm trying to record from an NTSC VHS into the PC)

I'm assuming it converts it to a PAL format as my TV can understand it...

Ahh... that could be it :-/ Is there a way to get around this?

Thanks a lot,

That's not easy...
Maybe search for a recorder that outputs "pure" PAL
or NTSC, but they are hard to find, or search for a
hardware convertor that does the "trick"
Tell me first if you realy want to spend the money,
(maybe also usefull for future projects)
Any way you have to search for something that outputs pure
NTSC/PAL at it's output, so you can "process" it.

Bedankt, Thanks,

Fugitive.

Hmm... well the card (apparently) accepts NTSC input... it says it accepts PAL, NTSC, SECAM...

If I need to spend the money to get it to work then I will, however I'd rather not have to (of course ;-))
