Just a quick question for you, ive noticed that there is a 4.54 and a also 4.55 update available for the sv2, I did see that theres been a few teething problems with 4.54, so does the 4.55 replace the 4.54 version? Thanks JR.

4.55 replaces the need for you to load 4.54

before if you had 4.50 or 4.51 you needed to upgrade to 4.54 and convert your channel data aswell

Now all you need is 4.55, no need for channel data to be modified

if you want to updrage from 4.54 to 4.55 you will need your old channel data file.

4.55 is working in dublin

Hi, can you please tell me where to find the downloader thing in eamos file? What's it called? I've had 3 loaders on my pc but none work so I've deleted them. I tried to download the new file to the box today but kept getting an error message.

As sc0user says all that is required for the SV 2 "THE BOX" is the
V 4.55 as there are no issues with this fix, you can get it in Eamos library below my sig!!

Hi, thanks, but there's loads of things in the file and I don't know which is a downloader. What I mean is, I have the file downloaded to pc but dont have a downloader thingy, because I don't know what it's called in the file. Nothing there says downloader.

Ok thats fine you do have a SV 2 try this:

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click b1n File & browse to the firmw@re where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC.

Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE p0p up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE.

The Starview will then reboot

Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV

Hiya, it's still doing the same thing. I've flashed these boxes loads of times, (I have 5 friends who come to me with their boxes too when they all go down). this has never happened before. What I do notice that's different is that when I go to choose bin file to open for the downloader, where it says flash files - files of type (bin), it's empty, and I have to open the little window and choose all type of files, and THEN choose the new software from the list. Could it be I've downloaded the file to PC in the wrong format?

I'm using a different PC to the last time I did this and today had to install winrar just to open the file.

would i be right in thinking your using Vista?? if so try and get your hands on an XP as the vista is causing all types of issues!!

Delete all the downloads you have and download again you just might have got a corrupt file!!

Hi Des - just a quick one, skywatchi, have you read the release note, you must still use the GTRom 4.03 to load the 4.55, no good using GTRom 4.00.

Totally straight forward, don't forget to use the correct loader, it is supplied with the updated firmware, GTRom 4.03 okay.

It could do - you will need the correct drivers for Vista, they should be supplied with the USB Adaptor, if you have problems just post and you will get help.

Tried it both way's and no problems at all, I have just flashed over the 8.02 fix, direct with the 4.55 (just to test) have a spare lying around, again no problems at all, you must use the the GTRom 4.03 Loader - and everything will be fine.
