Hello. I have been plagued with the blue screen of death. I will try to explain my problem as short as possible. This error is happening with both my newer Aopen 52x cd burner(CRW5232) and brand new LG (GSA0481b) DVD multi burner. In the beginning of all of this I thought it might be the cd burner but now my recent purchase proves that theory wrong.
When trying to make a copy of my own purchased dvds, using Nero or Roxio software I get a blue screen of death (dump screen) I am getting quite the little collection of coasters if anyone is interested lol.
os is winxp pro, have 20g hd & 120g hd, 768 mb RAM. Completely lost and have no idea where to turn. Hoping someone can help me with this problem.
Thanks Alot!

I would like to add that this does not happen when burning a music cd with either burner.

ladysox,

The first thing I see is your Roxio. Far too many conflicts are the results of Nero and Roxio in the same playground during recess :-(

By sending Roxio off (uninstalled) to the Principal?s office, everyone else plays together harmoniously :-))

You KNOW it?s got to be bad when you get TBSOD when using XP.

BTW, Welcome to our club :D

And you do know that neither Nero nor Roxio will allow you to directly copy original DVD's.

Correct !

You'll need to download and use DVDShrink - Here are the links for the program and guide -

Yeah... but, failure to use DVDshrink, DVD decryptor, or the like wouldn't result in the BSOD...

Are you overclocking your CPU? Is it overheating? Do you have adequate airflow through your computer for cooling? Did you buy cheap memory? DVD processes are far more CPU/memory intensive than CD processes. In my experience, BSOD only occurs in XP with faulty memory or CPU running too hot/fast problems.

Run Memtest86, and see if your memory is the culprit.
