How do I protect CFW M33 from accidental OFW upgrades

Whilst they love their PSP's, my kids have innadvertantly upgraded their CFW to OFW, without being aware. If since redressed the firmware. One now 3.8 M33 and the other 4.01M33.
I've tried getting into "configuration" by powering up from cold and holding down the right shoulder button, but it's not happenning with either unit. All else is fine, but I'd like to protect the situ.
Please assist.
