Alright, I'll be as detailed as I can about my problem.

I used a DVD decrypter and transfered an anime to my desktop. All the files from this anime tip the scales at about 8GB.

So, I used DVD Shrink, it's about 4.5GB now.

I tried using Nero6, but I was getting this error ---> http://www.angelfire.com/anime5/flarosie/images/error.jpg

I went along with the burning anyways, hoping against hope that it would work, and.... naturally, it didn't.

I also have CloneDVD, but I'm not quite sure how to use it.

Which files should I get trying to burn? All of them? Here's the list: http://www.angelfire.com/anime5/flarosie/images/list.jpg

Thanks in advance!

I didn't notice any VOB files in either of those pics. You'll need IFO, BUP and VOB files for a DVD compliant list of files.

Did you try just using DVD Shrink to rip and compress?

You need to burn all the files that DVD Shrink created. Also, 4.5gigs is still too big to fit on a dvd-r, 4.37gigs is the max.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

RWG, Ok, here's what I did ---> Inserted original DVD into DVD burner, used a DVD Decrypter which saved ALL the files to my desktop, and then I took ALL those files and inserted them into DVD Shrink and compressed them.

And yes, there are VOB files there, sorry, I didn't have the details shown! Here, this should help ---> http://www.angelfire.com/anime5/flarosie/images/vob.jpg

Sly, Sorry, I was being a bit vague and lazy and just rounded up to 4.5GB. As you can see from the ^^ aforementioned link, ^^ the entire compression is just under 4.3GB.

Thanks for the quick responses, and I hope I get some more so I can figure this thing out!!

Ok - I see the fileset you have to work with. There is one file, DEFAULT.PLS, that I have never seen in any of my DVD copying and have no idea what it is for.

You should also have an IFO and BUP file for every VOB file listed. Let me get to the Command Prompt and print a DIR of one of my DVD Shrink rips to a file...

Ok, here's 'Saving Private Ryan' ripped and ready to burn w/ Nero. The fileset is DVD compliant:

I didn't see a VIDEO_TS.IFO or BUP file - the first two files in my list. (A BUP file is a 'backup' of an IFO file.)

For every numbered VOB file you should have an accompanying IFO and BUP file. For my VTS_01_1.VOB file there are the matching VTS_01_0.BUP and VTS_01_0.IFO files. You can have multiple VOB files grouped together that use the same IFO and BUP files. See my VTS_O3_0n.VOB files.

Start DVD Decrypter, try selecting Movie only and see what kind of fileset you get. I'm curious.

I looked up Spirited Away at IMDB.com - Internet Movie Database - and noticed this is of Japanese origin. That "should" make no difference because you have the USA release.

EDIT

I just re-looked at your jpg of files - noticed it said 31 files listed but only 15 or so were visible. Can you set your View to List and show all files and extensions?

The DEFAULT.PLS I think is the file that pops up when I'm test-pre/viewing the VOB files. I think it may be some sort of cache/cookies thing? I usually just delete it right before burning something. It must've popped back in there when I was double-checking the VOB files after my unsuccessful burning attempt.

This is the first anime I've attempted to burn that I've had to compress, so it's very possible that I've goofed somewhere along the line. Usually, I just DVD decrypt the DVD to my desktop then pop open Nero Smartstart and create my DVD+R. No problems at all.

Unfortunately though, I don't have the original DVD with me anymore. In fact, I don't even think I have my original DVD decryptions before I compressed; I think I just overwrote everything. I'll double-check though, but you'll have to wait until I get home from work.

I'll do that first thing once I get home; I promise not to forget! :)

Yep, that's what I meant. Move that DEFAULT.PLS file to another folder for safe keeping and try to burn the remaining files with Nero. I've never used the Nero Wizard ot Smartstart but if it works for you go with it.

You have a compliant set of files without that DEFAULT.PLS in the list.

Let us know how it turns out.

later - it's 'suppa time' in Oklahoma!

Woohoo!!! I'm thinking that removing that DEFAULT.PLS file may have done the trick!!

However, I was still getting the same error using Nero. As a last resort, I popped open CloneDVD and had NO PROBLEM at all! It burned perfectly, and I'm watching my new anime right this moment.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :)

Glad you got the thing copied one way or another. Wish _I_ could figure out why Nero wouldn't burn it for ya.

Happy trails!

Clone DVD has a mamual which is a good guide http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_dvd/ , also try Doom9.com for Clone guide. The first one is better though.
