Okay so i have a broken xbox 360 the old cd-drive is crap but i understand that you have to take that key and put it on the other new drive. i'm wondering exactly waht software you need to complete all of this. i know you need a sata hook up with your computer and i bought a pci card off of ebay. the chip set is (VIA VT6421A). so would that work for wat i would be doing?
or do you think it would be better to just keep the chip and swap the whole outside?/..i think the crappy drive is a hitachi and my new one i bought is....a toshiba and the model is ts-h943. any help would be appreiceted

well i used slax and it got me only so far it didnt even get me to b mode...i was wonderin if ther were only certain cards you can get for sata

I-prep I think get it from xbins you can also find an automatic xbins programs at eurasia.nu makes it much easier to get what you need from xbins

your sata card should work. you must disable raid in bios. what model number is your hitachi? was your hitachi previously flashed? if your hitachi was previously flashed then eject the drive and remove the power adapter to the console without pushing in the tray. now power up the drive again and you are in mode b, no slax needed. once you are in mode b do not power down your drive. plug in the sata cable to the port 0 of you card, closest to the front of your computer. put in a retail game and wait for windows to detect it. if you have several sata device in your pc then go to device manager and make sure the hitachi is there and enabled. sometime windows detects the drive but you see a red x in the device manager. just right click it and enable device. now do a direct drive dump with firwmware toolbox. copy the key. use i prep for your replacement drive. open the cfw.bin in toolbox, paste in the key. Spoof as hitachi and do fsam to flash back. Done.!

i looked everywhere in my bios and i still cant find anything to do with raid....any other suggestions?? would purchasin a sata to usb work easier than tryin to use the pci card. cuz anything a try just still doesnt work.. any help would be grateful
