Hey everyone, new to the forums. First time poster, long time reader.

Anyways, I just needed to buy a new computer, and instead of going with Alienware/other expensive/not as good ideas, I decided to build my own computer.

I'm looking for a good rig, that will play WoW all settings high no problem. FPS, like Left 4 dead also in high if possible.

My computer knowledge, is okay in my opinion, but not good enough to be sure about what I'm doing. Also my first build, ever, and I'm starting off with SLI.

Go to the bottom for the quick version.

Well here is my computer:

Case:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...9301&CatId=1844

Motherboard:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...4477&CatId=2050

CPU:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...p?EdpNo=2470587

Video card x 2:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...3161&CatId=1839

RAM:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...9&Sku=O261-8038

Hard Drive:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...4505&CatId=2459

I also have a CD drive, and 2 120mm cooling fans, not linked. I also have a monitor already, and Windows XP 32 bit.

=======================================================================
=======================================================================

So in all:

- SLI Ready motherboard with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 processor.
- 2 GeForce 9600 GT Video Card OC 512MB GDDR3
- Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz
- 500GB Hard Drive 7200RPM 32MB
- 2 Cooling fans, 120mm
- Case with 450 PSU
- 21 inch LCD Monitor
- Windows XP 32 bit

Am I missing anything? Is the power supply going to be enough? Am I going to get all the memory from a 32 bit system? If not should I go vista?

My budget was around $450, but I can expand that a bit to get a new power supply if needed.

Thanks for the help! Much love. I will watch the replies.

Don't use that PSU especially not with SLI/Crossfire. I used a PSU that came with my case and I was forced to build a new PC because it screwed something up video card related...

As for the SLI that will perform probably similar to a 9800GTX+ or HD 4850. The 9800GTX+ is around $160 and the HD 4850 around $135. With the SLI9600GT, you are looking at $150. The three should perform about equal, with maybe the 9600GT SLI with a small edge. The downside of multiGPU is extra heat and power.

That's not a good build, for several reasons:

1. Cheap nasty case and power supply - the PSU will be very unlikely to power those components at all, and even if it does, will almost certainly go bang within a few months. 450W is ample, but that unit will never provide anywhere near 450W, generally divide the rated output of a cheap PSU by 4, and that's what you can expect it to produce, so that's really a 110W PSU. The case is also bad as it is not cooled very well.
Here's a much better combination, more expensive, but trust me, you can not afford to skimp in this area.

The motherboard is OK, but relatively cheap Asus motherboards are not known for having a long lifespan. SLI chipsets are also often prone to problems. It's worth mentioning, SLI is not necessary for a decent gaming PC. The CPU is fine, it won't play top end games like Crysis very well, but it's a nice cheap CPU to run games like Left 4 Dead. Get the CPU and a better motherboard from newegg:

The Graphics card is one of the things you got right, it's hard to beat that performance for that price, but whether that rebate will come through is unknown, if it comes from TigerDirect, you're playing with luck, you don't lose much from getting it here:

OCZ RAM is not a particularly well rated brand any more, I'd get this instead:

The Hard drive is fine, here's a link to it from newegg:

You might think it's a bit weird telling you to get all your stuff from newegg, but it works out cheaper, they have a better product range, and certainly better customer service.

Alright thanks for the input so far.

So, I know now I don't have near enough money as I wanted for SLI. *Yeah this is Christmas money, so I don't wanna overspend*

So, any more input?

I just want a good rig that will play WoW in high settings 50-70 FPS, play decent FPS games in high no problem, but also has to be under $450.

Yeah I don't know if this is possible, if not then I'll just wait and save a bit more, and then just do SLI.

Swap the graphics card in that list above for this one, and that's exactly what you'll get.
