The name Data Life Plus scares me.
We burn wedding and family videos and always use TY's...

I know Verbatim is one of the best, but are these the good ones ?


Also are these better then the TY Value-Line ?

Hi, these discs are said to be as follows :


1x - 8x DVD recording speed
Metal Azo recording dye optimizes read/write performance
Superior Archival Life
Limited Lifetime Warranty

So I guess they are quite good, since they say they "Superior Archival Life"

There should be little difference between the performance of the Taiyo Yuden and the Verbatim media. Both use azo-cyanine dyes. (The "archival" claim may consider standard cyanine as inferior for any manufacturer who uses it.)

CMC manufactures the Verbatim discs; and their quality control, which is vastly improved over what it was four years ago, is not as strict as Taiyo Yuden's. On the other hand, Taiyo Yuden is under tremendous pressure to cut costs since they are the only real manufacturer left in Japan and cannot afford to sell to sell in the retail market directly.

I just recently started using those specific Verbatims, but before that I was using their DVD+R discs and I never had any problem with them, nor have I had any problems with these. I only switched because the -R's were about $10-15 cheaper (don't know why) when I needed new blanks. Hope this helps!
