I want to install m33 firmware on my psp slim, I have searched on google, i have checked out all the stickys here, i tried larrylje's guide, everything but I just cant get it to work!
1. i made a magic mem stick out of my SanDisk 4gb using whichever software was included in the zip file or rar file
2. i made a pandora using hellcats pandora utility for 3.xx on my friends psp fat (4.01 m33-2)
3. insert them both into my psp slim (mem stick first) and it boots, but doesnt load anything on the screen, I read some guides saying that the screen doesnt support the kernel so I did it, waited like 10 secs, pressed x, waited 1 1/2 hours, reebooted, same firmware.
Almost all of the new slim psp's have a block on the firmware so that you can't downgrade and do all the awesome things that we've all found out about.
It really sucks. I bought a brand new slim psp and now I can't do nothing with it. :(
Look for guides on mother boards, namely the TA-088v3. That's the mother board that is currently cock blocking CFW from being installed. Supposedly there's a person who has found a possible way into it, but as of the time of this post nothing has been confirmed.
If you do in fact have a TA-088v3 Mobo the psp is not 'useless'. You just have to be patient and wait for it to be hacked. It's not unhackable. Nothing is unhackable. It just takes time, skill, and the right amount of motivation. Dark AleX or some new comer will prevail eventually.
Patience will be the hardest thing to overcome until a solution is found.
2 other things...
1)to my knowledge you can't soft mod a slim battery into a jigkick. You have to hard mod them. (I'm like 99.9% sure on this one).
2)Not sure if this is still an issue, but a 4gig stick wasn't usable for Magic Mem Sticks a while back. I read it on some random forum when I was in my infancy of hacking psp's. Being I was going to 10 different websites every minute, I never saved posts like that like I do now. But it is the reason I bought a 2 gig stick myself. I can't confirm this, just putting it out there as a possibility.
*side note* Make sure you stay away from Lexars.
Pertaining to your battery, if you put it into the psp and the power light comes on without you having to touch the power switch, then it's been properly converted to a jigkick. If it doesn't power on by itself then it's still a normal battery.
One last tiny thing. Make sure you title your posts a little more clear. This is covered in the forum rules. A good title would have been something like "Trouble with installing CFW using a pandora and MMS" or something to that extent.
Nothing huge, just informing for future reference.
