Is it safe to upgrade my wii firmware after using the 3.4u fix and installing cIOS wads?

I have no necessity to, I'm just curious should the need arise. My lady and I have a 3.4u wii that we hacked using the wii fix found here:

We already had the homebrew channel, installed on our 3.4u, and we only used up to the wii fix for 3.4u to install the wads for the backup launcher. My question is three fold (and i apologize if these have already been answered, we're kind of in the middle of some things in the family and I don't have time to search):

1) If at any point the need should arise, how safe is it to upgrade my firmware?
2) If at any point I want to be rid of this stuff on the wii, what course of action do I have? I.E. is there a return to factory setting option on the wii itself, is there some kind of program to reverse all of this stuff, etc. etc.
3) We have a wiikey 2 modchip on the way. Will installing that mod chip conflict with the backup launcher software?
