Greetings. I recently began experiencing an audio issue that appears to be specific to DivX players. Certain AVI files will gradually begin to experience audio lag as the video progresses. It usually becomes noticeable around the 15-20 minute mark, but sometimes it begins sooner and sometimes later. What's curious is that the lag issues do not occur if I play the same AVI files with other multimedia players that I use (e.g.; WMP 11, jetAudio, ATI file player). Also, when I burn these to CD for playback on my DVD player (Toshiba SD-4990) the same sync issues are present. All of this leads me to believe it must be something specific to the DivX player software. Has anyone else experienced this or maybe know of a fix or work-around?
My apologies if this has already been addressed somewhere. I searched for quite a while but didn't find anything similar. Thanks.
Sometimes I find that files with VBR (variable bit rate)audio go out of sync on standalone players - especially after pausing and restarting.
In these cases, converting the audio to CBR (constant bit rate) using Avidemux cures it.
Check the audio, by dragging the file onto 'GSpot'.
If it's VBR, drag the file onto Avidemux.
Set the left screen menu as shown, click the save logo and give the new file a name that includes the extension E.G. newfile.avi
Thanks so much for the recommendation. Unfortunately, the primary file that I've been trying to repair is already using CBR. Ughhh....
Hopefully my new DVD player with USB interface arrives today (and is worth a carp) and I can forget the whole thing :-)
