Hey newb here, just wondering whats the best route to go if i wanna play downloaded games on my psp like snes? what firmware should i upgrade to, and is there a certain order i should follw?
I apologize in advance if you have resolved your issue already-I was was trolling through the threads without replies-
Seeing that you have a psp (fat I assume) with 3.10 firmware-you have a couple of options.
First, you can either downgrade with the Lumines hack-
Guide found HERE -(scroll to "I would like to downgrade a -3.10 - 3.50 Any Motherboard" and click the show button)
This will downgrade your psp to 1.50 firmware which is what you need to get going on playing the downloaded games, as well as running emulators, etc. Once you have successfully downgraded your psp to the magic 1.50 firmware, you will then need to update to a newer version of custom firmware such as 5.00M33-4 as the 1.50 firmware is pretty blah by itself-no internet browser, nothing..(custom firmware is essentially sony's firmware that has been altered to allow you to play the games from the memory stick, etc..) An excellent guide for updating your firmware from 1.50 can be found HERE- (you would be starting from scratch, so be sure to follow the instructions where it says "1.50 users start here"-and follow it all the way through)
Option #2:
Pandora battery/Magic memory stick
This will require you to either purchase a ready-made pandora battery (best bet) or hardmod one that you already have (dangerous and sketchy) I would recommend purchasing one.
As far as the memory stick, you can use a program that runs on your computer such as 'pandora deluxe' or 'totalnewbiinstaller' to create your "magic" memory stick. Running either of those programs will install the needed files for custom firmware installation to your psp.
As far as the best route to go, I would say the second option, as the Lumines game was patched by sony after that downgrader came out. (the patched version has the 3.51 update) they might be pretty hard to come by these days- although you could try gamestop or another place that sells used games..Not only that, but you have to install all of your updates from scratch once you are on 1.50 firmware...The pandora battery/memory stick option has the firmware on the memory stick and basically does the work for you. Plus its nice to have a pandora battery on hand in case of emergencies.
