DVDX COPY Software Usage??

If you already have DVDX will you still be able to use it when they shut it down? I am using the demo right now but was considering buying it. I don't want to waste my money if it will soon be no good.
I really don't want to use Nero and need some suggestions on software to burn with. Do most software programs take the codes off the DVD's? Anyone have aby ideas?
