I have been asked by a mate to hack a PSP slim and lite to the M33 firmware but I havent done it in a while. The last time I did it was using the old GTA Liberty City Stories save hack to take it back to 1.5 but can this still be done ok?

only way to get custom firmware on a psp slim is with pandora's battery. and the slim must have 3.90 or lower out of the box.
