I was just looking at my wii and was wondering if it would be possible?
I have a problem with the mod chip overheating but if I was to put it on the outside no more overheating.

What do you think?

Sure why not.

It'll obviously be more fragile though. Might want to hot glue it or something to keep it from moving.

Shorter wires are the best option. Making them longer could cause issues.

It was -30c outside so I thought I would try it. So far with minor testing it works fine. I will report back when I have done more testing.
