I'm having trouble ripping The Nightmare Before Christmas. It is the collector's edition, but I just want the main disc. I used Dvd Fab Gold and HD Decrypter, then ran the files through Fix VTS, then transcoded in Shrink, and burned with Dvd Decrypter. Now, I went through the motions, then tried out the DVD. The introduction played...the coming attractions, the language options, and the menu selection all played fine. Then when I went to play the movie, it was bouncing around and skipping all over the movie... What did I do wrong? What should I change the next time I rip? Because I think when it's in the ripping stages is where something isn't right... Please help, thank you.

That particular Tim Burton film is a firm favourite of my kids. They love his work..I confess I do too.. :P
Back to the problem at hand. This movie is no big deal at all for encryptions and such. It's probably more to do with the type of media you're using and/or the speed at which it is burned. Slow your speed down to 4X and the results should improve dramatically. The type of media however is another story altogether. Crap media is just that..crap. Without knowing what brand you use or what speed you select..grab yourself Taiyo Yudens or verbatims and 4X speed for excellent results.
Howd you go?
EDIT in bold.
I just noticed that you had the same question posted on the 11th. It was closed due to piracy and stoopidity. I hope this thread won't go in the same direction, or it too will get canned. Hey to ddp.

Hopefully you learned something from your last thread.
I'm in agreement with Onya, it sounds like a media issue. If you want a good quality burn, you have to use good quality media.
When you're done ripping and transcoding, watch the movie using VLC or whatever you use to make sure that it plays fine on your pc. If it plays fine, burn it using good quality blank media, at no more than 8x with no multitasking.
Good luck and post back with your results.

I was finally successful! Thank you everyone for their help. I used the wizard mode in Rip It 4 Me, got past steps 1 and 2 (finished ripping with Dvd Decrypter & Dvd Region+CSS running), skipped past steps 3 and 4... I then took those .Vob files and ran them through the VOB blanker. Processed that successfully... then ran them through Fix VTS just as a 2nd precaution. After that, I transcoded the files through Dvd Shrink. I enabled preview and I saw the movie was there! So then after that was all said and done, I burned the .MDS file with Dvd Decrypter, and good to go! Thanks again, talk to you all soon

Glad you got it sorted.
Just so you know, you don't need to use both FixVts and VobBlanker. One or the other will suffice. ;)
