i have a question, i just copied a dvd to my computer. i want to edit or take out parts of certain dvd's and compile a little dvd of my own. is there a program i can use that will let me do that? the program i use, won't let me import that large of a file. i was wondering if there was a program i could use that would or could split each section or just the section i want so that i can import it into that program.

Hi smockpuv,
DVD Shrink 3.1.5 will let you take small or large sections of multiple DVDs and let you combine them in any order you wish.
The basic procedure is to open a DVD, let it analyze and then use the re-author/start-end/chapter select features to remove all but that portion you wish to keep.
Once that is done, back up this clip to a folder with a label so you can find it again. Repeat this process until you have a bunch of folders. These folders can contain the entire movie if you like and you can trim out the parts you want as you assemble your compilation.

Now open Shrink using the open files mode and get your first folder, Shrink may want to analyze it again but that will only take a few seconds if its just a scene or a chapter.
Now you can open the re-author window and use the browser to get the rest of your clips. Once you have them all in just select back-up and Shrink will compress and encode your new movie.
You can auto-burn with Shrink if you have Nero installed or just put it back on your hard drive.

A little experimentation and practice will make this easier than it sounds.

Be careful that you select the same audio for all the clips. I would imagine that wouldn't make much difference as long as you don't mind volume differences. I find the 5.1 to be a bit louder than the stereo audio.

I just tried it with a few different movies that I have on my hard drive, I took the first three chapters of a movie, reversed their playing order and then added a couple of scenes and a chapter or two from a couple of other movies and then backed the mess up to a folder on my hard drive, ready for burning or in this case, deletion.
I now have Top Gun combined with Jeepers Creepers and Toy Story.
HeHe.

Good luck,
Frank

Heres a guide for DVD Shrink compilations, If you haven't used Shrink before check out the preceeding guides.
