Need help changing DVD drive

hey, i've succesfuly flashed a 360 drive before and have had it for about 2 years now. unfortunately lastnight the dvd drive had the urge to make angry noises and refuse to read disks and when ejected the disk is still spinning, so i've bought a replacement drive from ebay, BENQ VAD6038.
I've got a flashed dvd drive and a xeno top loader, i have no clue what drive is in there and have lost all the tools, files, etc. for flashing.
i've looked all around for tutorials and stuff but not found much help, so is there a way to just take the firmware off my current drive and stick it on the benq when it arrives? or do i have to take the dvd key out of the current installed firmware and inject it into an iextreme firmware or something flashed onto the benq drive and if so can people point me towards tutorials etc.?
anyway, sorry for the mass of questions and stuff, just really stuck at what to do :) hope you guys can help. thanks.

Take the fw off your old drive and inject the key into the BENQ hacked FW. If your original drive is a BENQ, you do not have to spoof, and better yet... you can switch DVD boards and not worry about any flashing.

If it's different drive, be sure to spoof your BENQ to report as your original drive.


All you need is FW toolbox to spoof and inject keys so it's pretty self explanatory.

bit of an update; hooked up the 360 using the xeno top gear an all that, detected in windows, followed a guide to using the fw toolbox but as the drive won't spin and read the dvd/game i cant get the fw and/or key off it. desperately need more help as i'm a complete noob at this :)
Edit: nevermind me, found the problem. the magnet had removed itself from the drive and attached to the roof of the housing. shoulda checked that first :P
