Hi there, im new to the community and had a question concerning the new xbox dashboard update. I have been reading up on how to back up 360 games and i deffinately do not want to mod my box. So I was thinking, now that the update for the 360 lets you "install" the games onto your hard-drive, would it be possible to create a dummy disc for a game that will let you play from the hard-drive? I figured with all the programmers out there, someone can figure out how to do this, and then those of us who dont want to mod our xbox can backup our games. Well wether its possible or not its something to think about. Thanks much ><

Ages? The update came out last month?!?!?! Surely theres something on the disc that wouldnt normally burn in a direct clone but that you can add to it. Sort of like adding the correct .bin file or something to that extent, that fools the xbox into thinking its an original. If know one else knows a way then i guess I will have to find one. Project #1 for me here at afterdarw. Wish me luck :P

the update has been legitly out for a month, we have been using it for ages. unless you are working with a programmer on the inside dont expect to get far.

Not exactly the same but alternatively wouldn't it be possible to create a disk that is purely every games security section for use on a already modded xbox360 to play games off the hard drive with that single disk. In other words a dummy disk that you can just permanently leave in your drive.

As for playing without mods its not possible because the drive reads the serial number thing from the inner circle of the CD which doesn't exist on burnt drives. Essentially the firmware tells it to read the security from the actual disk instead of the bar code so now you should understand why its not possible unless you have a professional grade bar code CD stamp thing.
