Hi,

I'm experimenting a little with DVDshrink. I know it's possible to strip extra's from a DVD using the re-author method, but this way, the menus don't work anymore

Is there a way to keep the original menu's from the original DVD and still have them working for the extra's that I want but making the menu do nothing when selecting an extra I didn't copy

For example: DVD has the main movie and 3 trailers from menu. I want to copy the movie + 1 trailer. The original menu still shows 3 trailers. When I select the first one, it should work, when I select the 2nd and 3rd one, the menu just shouldn't do anything

Is there a program that can do this (pretty easily)? Ifoedit seems way to difficult for me. Thx for any help!

Hi lapino,

I'm afraid you won't be able to make a functional menu with DVD Shrink in reauthor mode, so you have to find another tool.

DVD Stripper is one way to go, and it's a free tool. You need also DVD Decrypter and IfoEdit, which are free as well. You can get all the required tools over here:

http://www.dvddecrypter.com

http://www.ifoedit.com

http://www.dvdstripper.com

and here's a guide how to use 'em

http://www.mpegit.net/dvdstripper_basic.php

I hope this does the job for you. Have fun!

lapino, 2 good programs you might want to consider purchasing are CloneDVD and AnyDVD that work together. AnyDVD does the decrypting in the background. Clone lets you Rip, edit like in Shrink and burns back but keeps the menu intact and active. 30 day trial on both then about $40. each. Well worth it. AnyDVD will decrypt with other programs like Nero Recode also.
