I just picked up my first 360, it's a jasper and I'm doing everything I can to prevent it from being damaged/failing. The one thing that?s been bothering me is that it's placed rather close to my sub. It's placed on my bureau which is about 3 feet off the ground and the sub is about 2 feet to the left of that. Moving the sub really isn't an option, it's the only place for it. Surface area is limited so moving the 360 isn't something that I want to do unless I have to.

The sub isn't exactly earth shattering it's a 100w powered yamaha with an 8 inch driver. I'm just wondering if the lead free solder could crack or unseat the gpu/cpu with the vibration from the sub and fluctuating temperatures.

mine is close to my sub too, its a 200w with 2 10" drivers. i did get rrod, but not until like a year and a half after i bought it. just my personal experience, good theory though.

Thanks for the response, I've been busy with Christmas shopping and well xbox... played for damn near 14 hours yesterday.

On closer inspection I don't think that the sub should be a real problem in terms of vibration. I think the dvd drive spinning at 12x creates more localized internal vibration (of coarse that?s a non-issue when games are installed to the hd). That and my bureau is solid wood so it withstands/absorbs the really deep lows and mids. I would think a glass or metal entertainment center/stand would resonate more due to the rigidity of the material.

well thought. i was wondering what happend to this thread. :) I think you should be fine, there's alyways the x-clamp fix if anything should happen.
